DALRYMPLE NATIONAL PARK Ancient lava flows, fossilised limestone and the Burdekin River are highlights of Dalrymple National Park, located 42km north of Charters Towers on the Gregory Developmental Road. It is at the site of the former Dalrymple township, which was one of the first inland settlements in northern Australia. WHITE MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK Located 140km west of Charters Towers on the Flinders Highway, White Mountains National Park is known for its spectacular white sandstone. The high bluffs and deep gorges are a sight to behold, with brilliant wildflowers, lancewood forests and sand dunes making this outback park truly unique. FLETCHER CREEK The rest stop at Fletcher Creek is located off the Gregory Developmental Road, north of the Towers. There are barbecue facilities and ample shade on the river for this popular camping site. Dogs on a leash are allowed.
